Because of their commitment to developing the strengths and talents of their staff, Duncanville ISD didn’t have to go far to find the ideal candidate to serve as Director for Federal Programs. Maria Zamora joined Duncanville ISD in 2006 as a bilingual teacher at Hardin Intermediate, and has since served as a Bilingual Instructional Specialist and most recently as the district Coordinator for Bilingual and ESL Services.

While serving as Bilingual Coordinator, Maria’s primary responsibility was to interpret and implement state and federal requirements regarding the placement and instruction of English language learners. This experience, combined with her understanding of student needs, makes her an ideal candidate to serve as Director of Federal Programs, a position that has been vacant for the past few years.

Maria began her education career in 1999, with two years in Valley View ISD. She then spent five years with Donna ISD before coming to Duncanville. Maria earned her Bachelor of Arts from University of Texas- Pan American in 1996, and her masters degree in Education Administration from Lamar University in 2010. She holds certifications in Bilingual/ESL Spanish, elementary self-contained, and principal grades EC-12.
