Dallas Baptist University Freshman Jamie Youree fired a second round, even par 71 to record his first top 20 finish in the Patriot’s first golf tournament of the season at Diamondback Golf Club in Abilene, Texas.

After carding an opening round, three over par 74, Youree rounded out his first tournament as a Patriot Golfer by shooting an even par 71, for a two-day total of 145 to secure a 20th place finish.

“I’m proud of the way that Jamie performed in his first collegiate tournament ever and am looking forward to what he has to offer to the team for the remainder of the season,” Head Golf Coach Kenny Trapp stated.  Trapp also added, “It is always good to see one of our new players go out there and compete and record a solid round in the final day of a tournament.”

Other contributors to the Patriot Men’s Golf Team were Junior Austin Strubel who recorded a second round 80, for a two day total of 155, and a 62nd place finish, and Sophomore Charles Gibson who shot an 81 in the second round, for a two day total of 161, and a 77th place finish.

The Patriots will be back in action on September 26 as they travel to Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to play in Northeastern State University’s tournament at Muskogee Country Club.
