Women’s Tennis Sweeps UTPB

The Lady Patriot Tennis Team improved their record to 4-1 on Thursday afternoon in Dallas by defeating UT-Permian Basin 9-0 in a dual match at Kiest Tennis Center. The Lady Patriots did not lose a set in singles play and lost only two games combined in the doubles portion of the day. Natalie Gennissen and Hannah Innes won their doubles match, 8-1, while the duos of Leah Rutt and Katie Daugherty alongside Leah Smith and Lexi Yeado easily won their matches, 8-0 and 8-1 respectively.

Just as in doubles play, the Lady Patriots dominated the singles side of the card. Gennisson won her match in the top spot, 6-1 and 6-0, while Rutt and Innes held down their spots with wins 6-3, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-1. The most dominating match of the day was turned in by Arianne Goddard as she trounced her UTPB counterpart without losing a point, 6-0 and 6-0. Daugherty and Smith also cruised to easy victories.

The Lady Patriots will return to the court Friday to take on Schreiner College at 4:00pm.
