Wayne McAfee – August 24, 2012

A very special friend of ours passed away this weekend. He served as Youth Minister for a number of Duncanville people at The First Baptist Church Oak Cliff, and once the church moved at The Oaks Baptist Church.

Wayne McAfee was serving at The Community at Lake Ridge as an Associate Pastor.

The following is from The Community at Lake Ridge website:

Friday night, August 24, 2012, one of God’s very best went to join his Savior in Heaven. Wayne McAfee, was the self-proclaimed “Pappaw Pastor” of TCAL. He has served on staff at our church the last few years and we have been so blessed by his presence. He loved to love people, and he helped so many feel at home every weekend as he would take time to visit with them and show them genuine love and care.

Today we mourn because of our loss, but we celebrate his life, and we celebrate he is more free today than ever with his Lord & Savior. Thank you Wayne for being such a model for all of us of what it looks like to live with a genuine and sincere loving heart. May we follow your example.

Please keep Margaret and the family in your prayers.

Viewing will be Monday from 6-8pm
at Midlothian Funeral Home (200 E. Ave E, 76065).

Memorial Service will be Tuesday at 10:30am
at First Baptist Church Midlothian.

  1. Wayne was my youth minister for several years at FBOC. It was a very special service in Midlothian on Tuesday and hundreds paid respect to a wonderful man! Will be praying for Margaret, Heather, Bethany, and all the family members. When I heard about his passing on Friday.. I thought of Paul’s letter to Timothy!

‎2 Timothy 4:6-8 – “As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me – the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return.” –

Wayne, Thanks for fighting the good fight! Lova ya man!

  2. We are saddened to learn of Wayne’s passing. Marie Patton told us tonight (9-11) at our retired teachers’ meeting in Grand Prairie. I am surprised I didn’t get word from someone. You are in our prayers. We so appreciate the life Wayne led and the impact he had on so many youth at FBOC, especially for our own Will and Leah. May all the good he did for God be a comfort. Love, Larry and Linda Hand
