Warhawks Sweep Past Lady Patriots

Having played fantastic team volleyball up to this point in the season and having won eight of their last nine contests going into Saturday’s action, the Dallas Baptist Lady Patriots (9-5, 5-1) were surprised by McMurry University (8-4) and fell in a clean sweep: 25-21, 25-19, 25-19. The Lady Patriots attacked at a paltry .112 clip and committed five service errors on the afternoon. They also had five receiving errors and allowed McMurry to rack up 62 digs in the match.

DBU was able to combine for 51 of their own digs in the three sets with Cameron Hartson collecting 15 of those.Kaycie Bird and Tyler Bradsher had 14 and 13 assists respectively and Ashley Kay led the toned-down offense with nine kills. McMurry, a provisional member of the Heartland Conference whose games do not yet count against the conference standings, hit .206 in the match and came up with five service aces.

The Lady Patriots will return to action next Thursday, October 4, as they welcome conference opponent Oklahoma Panhandle State to The Burg Center at 7:00 pm.
