whismanWalter G. Whisman, age 85, of Ovilla, passed away in Waxahachie, Texas on June 26, 2015 with his family at his side. He was born to Harvey Crockett and Rachie Marie (Turner) Whisman on December 12, 1929 in Wytheville, Virginia.

He joined the Army at a young age and completed a tour of duty in Korea where he received the Purple Heart. He later worked for Richardson & Co. for 23 years then for Westinghouse as a machinist for 13 years after which he retired.

Walter was a quiet and loving family man, devoted to his wife, daughter, and grandchildren. He was an avid reader and animal lover. He was especially devoted to his granddog, Winston-Nacho, and loved leaving treats for Alfie the Squirrel.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack. He is survived by his loving wife, Lois; a daughter, Sharon Camarillo and husband, Selas; two grandchildren, Sean Camarillo and Cindi Camarillo; two sisters, Jettie Taylor and husband, Freddie, and Rachie Guynn and husband, James; two brothers, Willey “Pete” Whisman and wife, Nora, and Thomas Whisman and wife, Jeanie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

jaynesVisitation with the family will be 6:30-8:00 pm, Monday, June 29, 2015 with funeral services at 10:30 am, Tuesday, June 30, 2015, both at Jaynes Memorial Chapel, Duncanville. Interment will follow at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
