The Dallas Baptist Women’s Soccer Team dropped their first contest of the season, Wednesday, losing a 2-0 decision to visiting University of Central Oklahoma. The Patriots concluded non-conference play and will travel to St. Edwards University, Saturday, to kickoff Heartland Conference play.

Something had to give in Wednesday’s contest, as both clubs came in at 4-0-0. The 10th-ranked Bronchos struck with their first goal, almost 30 minutes into the contest, as Kimberly Linder broke through the Patriot defense and finished to the bottom left corner. Kate Foran sent the ball through the defense to earn the assist.

Linder struck again early in the second half, picking up a turnover inside the DBU box and finishing to go ahead 2-0. Overall, the Patriots outshot the visitors 8-6, but only two shots were on target, compared to three for UCO. Meagan Burke (4-0-0) had two saves in goal for the Bronchos, with Kerry Edwards (4-1-0) turning away one shot for Dallas Baptist.

The contest between the No.9 Patriots and 17th-ranked St. Edwards, Saturday, is set for a 1 p.m. start.
