‘Be Safe. Drive Smart.’ Road Watchers Tour challenges drivers to exercise better judgement behind the wheel

TxDOT – On Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Texas Department of Transportation will bring its “Be Safe. Drive Smart.” Road Watchers Tour to the DeSoto Public Library Teen Expo in the DeSoto Town Center at 211 E. Pleasant Run Road in DeSoto.

Participants become backseat drivers in a simulated car experience that uses an interactive game to challenge players to avoid crashes by identifying and changing unsafe driving behaviors.

As part of its “Be Safe. Drive Smart.” campaign, TxDOT is launching the Texas Road Watchers Tour to encourage all drivers to exercise better judgment and responsibility behind the wheel. The tour features the Texas Road Watchers interactive game, which will visit select Texas communities throughout the summer.

In 2017, there were 479 crashes in DeSoto resulting in one fatality and 31 serious injuries.
