Third Six Weeks A-Team Trip

The hard work of a group of honor roll students was recently rewarded with the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the NASCAR facilities at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.  Excited Reed Middle School A-Team students got a personal tour of the huge facility on January 31.

A-Team-(1)croppedSpeedway staff gave the students’ school bus access to the center field area where racecar drivers park their coaches during racing events.  Students visited the pit area, and learned that Texas Motor Speedway is one of the largest tracks in the country with a 1.5 mile lap.

Students had their pictures taken in the Winner’s Circle, and toured the 200,000-seat spectator area.  They were then escorted to the press box and corporate lounges, with an incredible view of the track.  Students learned how engineers installed half-inch thick glass windows to muffle the loud noise from below.
The A-Team is a Reed Middle School program that encourages students to give their best efforts in the classroom by rewarding them with special educational field trips. Reed sponsors would like to thank everyone who made the third six weeks trip possible.  If you or your business would like to help to create future hands-on activities for students, please contact Andrew Davis by email , or call: 972-708-3534.
