Tennis Serves With Young Life Capernaum

On Sunday, October 20, the Dallas Baptist Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams played tennis with the YoungLife Capernaum group in Dallas.

YoungLife Capernaum is a vibrant and energetic group of special-needs individuals who, three Sundays a month, get together and participate in activities throughout the Metroplex.

On this particular day, DBU Tennis was fortunate enough to spend the day  helping YoungLife Capernaum learn and compete on the court. With volunteer leaders, Capernaum participants and DBU tennis players, there were a total of 53 participants playing on four courts.

The DBU tennis team led games, challenges and helped instruct these new tennis players.

“The service project we were able to be a part of was an amazing experience,” said Senior Phillip Allen. “Working with the kids and seeing the Lord’s work through the volunteers was very humbling. It was awesome to see the smile on the kids’ faces anytime during the day. It was such a blessing for everyone involved.”

Throughout the year, DBU Tennis will continue to serve in the community, using the time to share the love of Christ with those outside DBU and also develop a camaraderie among their teammates.

“Having the opportunity to serve alongside my tennis team and coaches was such a privilege,” according to Leah Rutt. “I loved being able to use the talents God has blessed us with by helping children play tennis! “
