Sue Jane Hale – August 13, 1931/August 7, 2015

haleSue passed away on August 7, 2015. She was born in Ryan, Oklahoma, on August 13, 1931, the daughter of Ferris and Lottie Sue Hughes.

She grew up in Wichita Falls, Hermleigh, and Wink, Texas, and attended North Texas State on a music scholarship (piano). In 1951, she married Dr. Sam W. Graves in Kermit, Texas. The couple moved to Eunice, New Mexico in 1957, where Dr. Graves had a dental practice and Sue served as his dental assistant for many years.

After Dr. Graves passed in 1990, Sue married Pete Hale of Lubbock, Texas, who died in 1999. Sue thereafter lived in Oklahoma with her daughter, SueZann and her husband, Keith. She then moved to Cedar Hill, Texas, in 2009. Sue became a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in DeSoto, Texas, which she dearly cherished.

She is survived by her son, Tom Graves and beloved daughter-in-law, Carrie; son-in-law, Keith Shahan; grandchildren, Katie Graves, Sam Graves, and Lance Shahan; and great-grandson, Alex Kersting. Mrs. Hale is also predeceased by her parents, her older brother, Al Hughes, and her daughter, SueZann Shahan.

jaynesFuneral services are 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 512 N. Cockrell Hill Road, DeSoto, Texas.

Visitation with the family begins at 9:00 am.

Graveside services will follow at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, at Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery in Goldthwaite, Texas.
