Duncanville will face either Killeen Shoemaker or Belton on Tuesday night in West
Starr Jacobs, junior forward, pulled down 11 boards and scored 18 points to lead Duncanville to the 63-48 victory over the DeSoto Lady Eagles in the last game of the regular season.
DeSoto worked to keep the game close in the first half. After the Pantherettes jumped out to a 15-9 lead after the first period, the Lady Eagles responded by flipping the score and and going into the half with the game all knotted up at 24 points each.
Duncanville came out in the first quarter and clamped down on defense to hold DeSoto to only 10 points in the period, while Jacobs had her busiest quarter with 6 rebounds, a steal, a block, and 10 points.
Duncanville cruised in the fourth to take home the 63-38 win.
Along with Jacobs’ 18 points, Lauryn Bowie with 15 points, Zarielle Green with 13 points, and Aniya Thomas’ 11 points accounted for all the double-digit scorers for Duncanville.
DeSoto was led by Chania Wright with 18 points, and Jaqua White along with Kayla White scoreing 11 points for the Lady Eagles.
Heading into the playoffs, Duncanville is waiting to find out who their bi-district opponent will be with Killeen Shoemaker and Belton playing Friday night in Copperas Cove to determine which team advances. The winner will face Duncanville on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at West High School. The winner will go on to face either Plano West or Flower Mound in the area playoffs.
