Stacy Wilton Brown, Jr., age 68, of Grand Prairie, TX passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 in Mansfield, TX. He was born March 15, 1948 in Lumberton, North Carolina to Stacy W. and Clara (Odom) Brown, Sr.
Stacy attended and graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC. He joined the U.S. Army and served 2 tours in Vietnam. He served honorably for 20 years and retired with the rank of Staff Sargent in 1987. Part of Stacy’s military career included service as part of the military police, with role’s including that of K-9 handler as well as K-9 instructor for numerous dog teams. Following his retirement from the military, Stacy worked numerous years as a proud part of the Dallas Sheriffs’ department.
Stacy married the love of his life, Margarita J. Diaz, on September 3, 1971 and together they are the parents of three children.
Stacy was a proud Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan, an avid poker player as well as golfer. He loved playing bingo with his granddaughter and was an avid sci-fi film viewer with his grandson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margarita; daughters, MSgt. Cynthia L. Brown, USAF, and Lori Ashley Brown-Becerra and husband, Jaime; son, David S. Brown; grandchildren, Jaime Becerra, Jr. and Lauren A. Brown; siblings, Linda Brown, Johnny Brown, Debra Brown-Hubbard, Danny Brown, and Michael Brown.
Stacy was a loving friend to many, was kind hearted and self-less to all who knew him. He was a true American Patriot, a proud member of law enforcement and is loved and missed by all.
Services will be held at 10 am on Monday, August 15, 2016, also at Jaynes.
Interment will follow at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
