bernierShelia A. Williams Bernier left this earth on the evening of May 6, 2015, to be with her heavenly father. She was born May 4, 1956, in Colorado City, Texas.

Shelia was baptized at an early age at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. Shelia loved hiking and the outdoors, but her greatest love was fulfilling her unquenchable thirst for knowledge.

Shelia earned bachelor degrees in Biology and Physical Therapy, held masters in Physical Therapy, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, and Kinesiology, and ultimately attained PHD’s in Physical Therapy and Gerontology. Shelia was also a licensed Actuary and a Pharmaceutical technician. Her latest interest took her to the town of Mexia, where she was being introduced to the world of Rural Medicine. This is where she felt she could make the greatest impact with her wealth of knowledge.

Shelia accomplished many achievements and received numerous accolades throughout her life with the love of her life for 27 years, George, cheering every step of the way. Together they traveled and hiked extensively around the United States and Italy. Shelia was a lover of music and the Arts, living life to fullest, always standing firm in her convictions. Along the way she formed numerous friendships throughout her journey.

The most cherished is the bond of daughter, sister and aunt.

She leaves behind to mourn: her husband, George Bernier; father, Clarence (Ellon) Williams; sisters, Gwendlyn Williams and Diane (Ivan) Thorne; niece, Tiffany (William) Balderamos; nephew, Bryan Thorne and great nephew, Lucas Balderamos; sister-in-law, Patricia Massey; and a host of relatives and friends.

Shelia was preceded in death by her mother, Earline Williams, brother Charles Williams, maternal grandparents Wilmer and Aletha Rhinehart, and paternal grandparents Commordore and Rosa Williams.
