Sandra Jewell Gantt March 11, 1944 – April 23, 2016

ganttSandra was born to Jewell and Lee Short in Little Rock, Arkansas, March 11, 1944.

Sandy, as she is known to family, strived to be there for many family members during their times of need. Whenever the need arose she would take in a family member or lend an ear to counsel during times of grief. Sandra, through prayer and long hours, nursed and helped many back to health. Highly skilled and a licensed hair dresser, she loved to help bring a smile to family and friends.

A fervent believer in Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, Heaven has called home another loyal and faithful servant for a job well done. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 118:24, “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” This is the verse she began everyday reciting from her loving and caring heart.

Sandra, or Maw Maw to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, leaves behind her ever faithful loving husband and best friend of 47 years, Henry Gantt; daughter, Donna Leiter; son, Rob Gantt and wife, Polly; sister, Judy Short Denio; and brother, Harry Short and wife, Barb. Her Legacy and Heritage of Love is carried forward with Maw Maw’s many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her son, Chuck; parents Jewell Hardin and Lee Short; brothers, Ron and Wes Short; and sister, Carole Hancock.

jaynesVisitation with the family will be 5-8 pm, Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will begin at 2:15 pm, Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Those planning on going to the cemetery need to be in Lane B at 2:00 pm.
