Ruth Dubberly Houser was born November 28, 1925 in Celina, Texas, and passed away January 17, 2017 in Duncanville, at the age of 91. Her parents were James and Gertrude Dubberly.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Edwin Harold Houser; brothers, Ray and Tom, and sisters, Gene and Dean.

Mrs. Houser graduated from Prosper High School in 1942. She moved to Dallas and entered nursing school, she met “Tot” Houser in 1944, they were married in 1947 and settled in Oak Cliff.

Ruth is survived by her brother, LeRoy; her three sons, Bobby and wife, Debbe, David and wife, Carolyn, and Kirk: grandchildren, Kyle, Hollie, Chris, Graham, Elaine, and Levi; and great-grandchildren, Kole, Alexie, Bryce, Kylie, Jackson, Will, Brynlee, Ally and Reid.

Ruth was a medical secretary for over 20 years at Methodist Hospital and Southwestern Medical School. She also worked for her son, David at New York Life. After retirement she volunteered at Charlton Methodist Hospital for 15 years. While working full time she earned a bachelor’s degree from Dallas Baptist University in 1985 with a 4.0 GPA. She was a member of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society. Ruth was an avid sports fan. The family estimates she lead the cheering section for her sons and grandkids at over 3,000 ball games over a 50 year period. She enjoyed needlepoint and sightseeing. She was an active member of the Cup and Saucer Class at First United Methodist Church Duncanville. Ruth had a lifelong interest in reading and was a member of the Book Browser’s Club.

Funeral Service is 12 Noon Saturday January 21, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main Street Duncanville, TX 75116.

Burial will follow at Little Bethel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Jaynes Memorial Chapel.
