If there are any moral victories for Kenny Trapp and the Lady Patriot Golf Team, Tuesday was filled with strong play and opportunities. Going in to the 14th hole in the final round of the Bison Classic in Searcy, Arkansas, things were all knotted up atop the leaderboard. DBU had caught host Harding University after beginning the day 9 strokes off the lead – but a late push by Harding proved too much on this day and the Lady Patriots settled for a strong second place finish, twenty strokes ahead of the next closest team.
Mercedes Rios continued her strong play with a second place individual finish after firing a 75 on Tuesday and Erin Barrington shot a second day 78, good for a 6th place finish in the tournament. Laken Trahan duplicated yesterday’s scoring with an 80 to close out in 9th place overall while Kailey Glenn and Chelsey Sills shot identical 80-81 on the tournament to finish tied for 10th place.
Trapp was optimistic after Tuesday’s final round. “I saw some good things. We made a run at it late in the second round but just had a few too many mistakes in the final holes,” he said. “Hopefully we’ll learn from it, learn how to finish strong and we’ll be fine. Overall, there were a lot of positives today and we’ll get back to practice and see if we can’t fix some of the things that went wrong.”
The Lady Patriots will take a week off and then get back to tournament play October 3 at Lincoln Park East Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
