Roy Etheredge died May 4, 2017 in Cedar Hill, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Roy was born on August 3, 1930 to Samuel and Ada Hall Etheredge in Lamesa, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twelve siblings and a granddaughter, Ashley Jane Etheredge.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Jeanie Etheredge; son, Roy Harold Etheredge & wife, Carolyn; daughters, Marla Jenkins & husband, David and Lorie Rogers & husband, Mike; step daughter, Brenda Selby & husband, Gary; stepson, Don Lefevre & wife, Lee Ann; grandchildren, Amber Fletcher & husband, Scott, Micah Etheredge & wife, Elisha, Landon Jenkins & wife, Sahira, Anna Barker & husband, John, Stacy VanDeventer & husband, Niles, Anastasiya Grace Jenkins, Wynona Ashley Rogers, Christine Brock, Bradley Beard & wife, Leah and Braden Lefevre along with 5 great grandchildren.

He spent most of his adult life as a custom homebuilder, long distance truck driver and a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He initially enlisted in 1949 and served during two different enlistments, a total of 17 years. He was in the Vietnam War as a Combat Engineer overseeing 49 men. Roy was honorably discharged in 1967.

Roy accepted Jesus Christ as his savior as a young man and was baptized. Roy was known as a very generous and caring man to all those who knew him. The scriptures below found in Luke 10: 25-27 describes the way Roy tried to live his life.

Luke 10:25-27 And behold a certain lawyer stood up and put him to the test, saying “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” And he said to him, “What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?” And he answered and said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”

Funeral Service is 2:00 PM Sunday May 7, 2017 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel, 811 S. Cockrell Hill Road, Duncanville, Texas 75137.

The family will be available after the service to visit.

Burial follows on Tuesday May 9, 2017 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
