Roy A. Poteet – January 19, 1925/July 18, 2015

poteetRoy A. Poteet, born in Dallas, died July 18, 2015. A graduate of historic Crozier Tech High School in Dallas, Roy served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea as 1st Class Petty Officer as Aviation Radioman/Gunner on Navy bombers. While serving on antisubmarine patrol rescuing Navy pilots in the Pacific Theatre, he was awarded the Purple Heart in Leyte Gulf, and Unit Presidential Citations from the President of the Philippines and President of the United States.

He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and Dow Jones.

Roy’s personal commitment to his Christian faith was magnified by his service in teaching Sunday School and volunteer endeavors. He was a member of Tyler Street United Methodist Church, Dallas.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Stone-Poteet, daughter, Deborah Arnold and her husband, Chuck, and family, and grandsons, Ryan and Jonathan Brinkley and their families. He is predeceased by his dear grandson, Kevin Brinkley.

jaynesVisitation is 5-7 pm, Tuesday, July 21, at Jaynes.

Funeral services are 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 22, 2015, also at Jaynes.

Burial with Military Honors will be 9:00 am, Thursday, July 23, at DFW National Cemetery.
