perryRobert Clinton Perry III, was born September 25, 1935 in Ft. Worth, TX and passed January 16, 2016 in Cedar Hill, TX after an extended illness lasting many years. He was a resident of Tuscaloosa, AL for over 42 years before moving back to the Dallas area in 2005.

He had a long career in ministry and education. He received the AB degree from Samford University and master degrees in Theology and Religious Education from Southwestern Seminary. He earned an MA degree in Education from the University of Alabama. He was a member of Phi Alpha Theta, an honorary society in History. He also was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and Kappa Delta Pi, honorary societies in Education. He was a life member of the National Education Association and also a member of local and state education associations in Alabama. He held membership in the National Forensic League with the degree of Excellence.

He was ordained to the Gospel ministry by authority and the order of the Girard Baptist Church of Phenix City, AL, July 10, 1955. He was presented the Pastor of the Year Award in 1969-70 by the Associational Brotherhood for Spiritual Leadership of Men and Boys in Tuscaloosa, AL.

He taught at Holt and Hillcrest High Schools of Tuscaloosa County and as well as in the Continuing Education Department at the University of Alabama for many years. After serving as pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Ralph, AL for eight years he was chaplain of LaRocca Nursing Home in Tuscaloosa for 21 years. He had a God given ability of teaching and preaching, including ministry to others. These abilities were evident at an early age in his life.

He is survived by his wife, Sue R. Perry; son, Robert IV (Lisa); daughter, Sarah Beth; grandsons, Joshua and Collin; granddaughter, Rachel; one brother, Dr. John Michael Perry (Lee) of Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to the American Lung Association and to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in care of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Cedar Hill.

jaynesFuneral services are 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 265 W. Pleasant Run Rd, Cedar Hill, TX.

Interment will follow at Little Bethel Memorial Park, Duncanville, TX.
