The streaking Dallas Baptist Patriot Women’s Soccer Team earned a 3-1 win over visiting Texas A&M International University, Thursday, the club’s 11th straight win. The No.9 Patriots now stand at 15-2-0, 8-1-0 in Heartland Conference play.

Lindsey Eccles struck early with the home team’s first goal, knocking in a loose ball inside the box for her ninth goal of the season. The Dustdevils (11-4-1, 5-3-1) countered in the 23rd minute, on an unusual goal scored by Paige Johnson. The defender sent a free kick from midfield, which took a high bounce, clearing the reach of DBU goalkeeperKerry Edwards, tying the game at one.

The go-ahead and insurance goals scored by DBU each came in the second half. Ashley Cox knocked in a free kick from Jake Cox, her seventh goal of the season. 13 minutes later Danielle Presley scored her team leading 16th goal of the year, an unassisted score to put the Patriots ahead by the eventual final, 3-1.

Overall, Dallas Baptist dominated ball control, outshooting the visitors 16-2. 10 of the Patriots’ shots were on goal, while both Dustdevil shots were on target. Edwards moves to 15-2-0, registering one save. Aissa Pedraza (9-4-0) registered seven saves in the loss.

The Patriots return to their home field for their regular season finale and Senior Day, Saturday, hosting St. Mary’s University at noon.
