Playing in Lakewood, Colorado for the third game in three nights, the Dallas Baptist Patriots won the final game of the NCCAA Regional Tournament hosted by Colorado Christian, 87-80, over Southwest Assemblies of God. Nick Fox led the way for DBU with 21 points and 19 rebounds, while TJ Clark added 20 points and Jordan McGowen 14.

The Patriots only trailed once during the game and that was 15 seconds in by one point. From there, they pushed their own lead to as many as 15 points while only shooting 42% for the game, including 4 of 16 from beyond the arc. They won with a stifling defense that only allowed 34.6% shooting from SAGU, including an astounding 10 of 43 from three point range. SAGU attempted a total of 78 shots on the night, almost one every 30 seconds, while DBU was content to control the ball and slow down the pace of the game.

That slow pace and passing attack led to 26 turnovers by the Patriots but because they collected 54 rebounds, they had several more possessions than they would see on an average night. They also attempted 52 free throws and made 41 of them.

The Patriots will now travel to Indiana for the NCCAA National Championship Tournament next week and await for the brackets and matchups to be released. Stay tuned to for updates and times as the week progresses.
