Patriots Trail Early, Lose to McMurry – Drop Four Straight

It took Dallas Baptist (5-9) four and a half minutes to score their first points on Saturday afternoon in Abilene and, by that time, McMurry (10-2) already held a nine point lead. It would not get any better for the Patriots on the day as the Charles Allen three-pointer would cut the lead to six – and that was all the closer DBU would get to their future Heartland Conference mates, falling 80-49 for their fourth straight loss.

The Patriots trailed 42-23 at the intermission after shooting 40% in the first half. Unfortunately, the first twenty minutes was much better for DBU than the second half as they shot only 25% in the final period to shoot 32.5% for the game. McMurry shot very well in the first half, missing only eight shots, and then controlled the glass on those eight missed shots with four offensive rebounds. They also forced nine DBU turnovers in the first twenty minutes.

For DBU, Remy Ndiaye shot a perfect 12 for 12 from the free-throw line to finish with a career-high 14 points. Allen was the only other Patriot in double digits as he scored 11 points in 23 minutes. The Patriots will wait a week to return to action as they play host to Oklahoma Christian next Saturday, January 19, with a 2:00 pm tip-off in The Burg Center. The Patriot Broadcasting Network will call the action with Brendan Smith and Reagan Ratcliff hosting the Pregame Show at 1:45 pm.
