After his shortest outing as a DBU Patriot last Friday in Wichita, Cy Sneed (7-3) rebounded with one of his best collegiate starts on Tuesday night in Arlington as he combined with Michael Smith to throw an eight-hit shutout against UT-Arlington (27-18) as DBU (30-14) scored the only three runs of the game in the seventh inning for a 3-0 win. Sneed and Smith did not walk a batter in the contest as Sneed struck out five Mavericks in his seven innings of work and Smith two in the final two innings to record his sixth save. These two teams will battle again Wednesday night as UTA travels to Dallas for a 6:30 start at Patriot Field.

The Patriots stranded 13 runners in the game, including ten in the first six innings, before breaking through in the seventh with their three runs. Adam Westbrook (0-3) walked the first two batters of the inning before Joel Hutterreached on an error by third baseman Brent Bollinger on a possible double play ground ball. Ronnie Mitchell followed that mistake with a single to center that plated Landon Anderson before Duncan McAlpine scored Boomer Collins with a bunt single to the right side of the infield. Michael Miller then pinch hit for RJ Talamantes and lifted a sacrifice fly to center that scored Mitchell for the final run of the game.

Sneed threw the bottom of the seventh before giving way to Smith who pitched around two hits in the eighth with a double play ground ball to Austin Elkins before a perfect ninth to seal the win.

The win was the 30th on the season for DBU as they look for a three-game win streak Wednesday in Dallas. Jay Calhoun is set to head to the mound for the Patriots against a starter still to be announced for UTA. The Patriot Pregame Show will begin at 6:10 pm on
