Patriots Hit 17 Three-Pointers in 105-78 Win

THE LEAD 
The Dallas Baptist University men’s basketball team defeated Oklahoma Panhandle State 105-78 behind successful perimeter shooting on Saturday afternoon at the Burg Center. Myles Johnson led the Patriots with a season-high 26 points, shooting six-for-eight from beyond the arc and 10-for-16 from the field overall. Joey Miller put up 18 points and shot four-for-five from three-point range. Patrick Burke joined Johnson in double-digits with 16, including DBU’s first six points. Jonathan Perry posted 13 points in the Patriots’ demanding victory.

DBU and OPSU were even at 19 apiece with 13:21 left in the first half before the Patriots went on a 35-17 run over the next seven minutes, including six three pointers on as many attempts. Johnson scored three of the six three-pointers on his way to his fourth 20+ point performance of the season. DBU opened the second half on a 17-7 run, behind four-of-five shooting from three-point range.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW 
– DBU is 5-1 this season at the Burg Center.
– The Patriots out-rebounded OPSU 35-21.
– DBU held OPSU to two-of-seven shooting from beyond the arc in the second half.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 
2 – Despite OPSU’s full-court pressure, the Patriots only had two first-half turnovers.
10 – After starting out three-for-seven from three, DBU hit 10 of their next 13 attempts.
50 – The Patriots hit 50 percent of their three-pointers, the highest since the season opener (51.3 percent vs. Colorado Christian).
