Behind a pair of goals by Landon Lacy, the Dallas Baptist Patriot Men’s Soccer Team edged Oklahoma Christian University, 2-1, in hard-fought action, Thursday, at Patriot Field. The win is the second consecutive for the DBU men (4-6-1), who are now 3-1-1 in their last five contests.

Lacy struck with his first score just over eight minutes into the contest, as Brian Robertson bent a free kick into the goalie box, finished with one touch from Lacy.

The two Patriots paired up again early in the second half, extending the lead as Lacy broke through the Eagles’ defense to score his fourth goal of the season.

Oklahoma Christian (5-6-0) would not go without a fight, however, scoring less than two minutes later as Brandon Little Axe got free in the goalie box and finished by DBU Goalkeeper Chuck Schober (4-4-1). Sam Guernsey sent in the crossing pass to earn the assist.

The Dallas Baptist defense tightened in the final 40 minutes, as the first-year program earned their first win at Patriot Field. Schober registered four saves in the win, as the Patriots outshot the visitors, 12-10. Tim Spencer (4-6-0) turned away three shots, as the Patriots tallied five on goal in the win.

Thursday’s win was the first home game in almost three weeks. The Patriots will return to their home field, Saturday, hosting Newman University at 2:30 p.m. The two teams battled to a 0-0 tie two weeks ago in Wichita, Kan.
