Fresh off Saturday’s opening win over LeTourneau, the DBU Patriot Men’s Soccer Team returned to host West Texas A&M, Tuesday, dropping a 2-1 contest to the visiting Buffaloes (3-0-0).

The Patriots, now 1-1-0, jumped on top 13 minutes into the game, as Landon Lacy knocked in a loose ball inside the box, giving DBU the 1-0 lead. The unassisted goal was Lacy’s first of the season.

The Buffaloes countered 15 minutes later, as Dominic Furness knocked in a short cross inside the box from Carl Prestidge, tying to the game prior to the halftime break. The go ahead tally came less than 10 minutes into the second frame, this time with Colin Bjostad heading in a pass from Christopher Hutton, off a corner kick from Prestidge.

Chuck Schober, named Heartland Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, Tuesday, worked the entire game in goal for DBU, tallying six saves, all in the first half, while allowing two goals. William Cooper allowed the lone Patriot goal to earn the win, now 3-0-0.

The DBU men will take a short layoff, returning to Patriot Field, Sept.13 at 7:30 p.m., for the Heartland Conference opener against St. Edwards University.
