The Dallas Baptist University Patriots Men’s Basketball Team (11-15, 7-7) ended their 2012-2013 season with a win over the Aggies from Oklahoma Panhandle State University (5-23, 1-13) on Saturday afternoon at home in Dallas, Texas, on Senior Day, 74-72.  Jonathan Perry connected on two crucial free throws with 1.8 seconds to go to seal the win for the Patriots as the Aggies last ditch shot hit the rim.  Perry finished with nine points and five rebounds in the win.

The Patriot offense came out strong to begin the game as they quickly went on a 12-2 run to force the Aggies back on their heels.  DBU would continue their dominance in the first half finishing the half with a commanding 12 point lead, 38-26.

OPSU turned the game around, going on a 12-2 run of their own to quickly erase the large Patriot lead. The DBU lead dropped to only two points, 40-38, just five minutes into the second half.  The Patriots would extend their lead to as much as 11 midway through the half before a surge from the Aggies would even things up at 60 with 6:36 remaining.  The teams would see a total of 10 ties and/or lead changes in the final five minutes, but a costly foul by the Aggies with 1.8 seconds left in a tie game sent Jonathan Perry to the line who connected on both his attempts to seal the Patriot victory, 74-72.

Patriot Guard, Jason Gentry, led all scorers in the win with 17 points with Nick Fox close behind with 16.  Gentry connected on 5-of-7 from the field and was 3-for-4 from behind the arc.  He added 4-of-6 from the charity stripe to help give the Patriots the edge in Saturday’s win.  Fox finished final game as a Patriot recording a double-double, as he grabbed a game high 12 rebounds to add to his 16 points in 27 minutes of play.

Fox finishes his senior campaign as the Patriots’ leading scorer and leading rebounder for the 2012-2013 season averaging 21.5 points per game shooting .776 from the field while grabbing an average of 8 rebounds per game.

The Patriots complete the season with an overall season record of 11-15, while finishing with a 7-7 record in Heartland Conference play.
