Patriots Cruise for First Heartland Win

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Women’s Soccer Team improved to 6-2-0, picking up their first Heartland Conference win, Saturday, an 11-0 victory over University of Texas-Permian Basin.

Lea Sedwick was the big scorer for DBU, knocking in the first goal of the contest just over two minutes into the game, assisted by Dixie Kurrus, the first of her four goals. Mia Romo put the Patriots ahead 2-0 with her first goal of the season, an unassisted score.

After two more Sedwick goals, Annie Wells scored on an assist from Jolee PattersonDanielle Presley added three consecutive goals to start the second half, the first assisted by Lindsey Eccles and the third with Wells and Eccles registering the double assist.

Sedwick added her final goal, Wells added a second, assisted by Ashley Cox, and Jake Cox scored her second goal of the season, the final one of the contest. The defense was superb, as well, not allowing a shot in the contest. Kerry Edwards moves to 6-2-0 with the shutout.

For the Falcons (0-7-0), Victoria Ramirez took the loss in goal, falling to 0-4-0 on the year. She registered five saves and allowed five goals.

The Patriots will take to the road next week, traveling to Oklahoma Christian University, Thursday, and Newman University, Saturday. They return to Patriot Field, Oct. 1, hosting St. Edward’s University at 4 p.m.
