Patriots Cross Country Picked to Top Conference

When the 2012 Heartland Conference Cross Country season begins, the Dallas Baptist Women will be seeking their sixth straight conference championship crown while the men’s team will look to make it three in a row for the Patriots. It is no surprise, then, that both teams were chosen by conference coaches and Directors of Sports Information as the pre-season favorites in their respective sports. The DBU Women collected nine of 11 first-place votes while the men garnered 7 of ten.

Head Coach Jake Phillips said, “We are honored that the coaches voted us number one in the pre-season polls but know that we still have to work hard all season and show up at the conference championships healthy and ready to compete for the title.  Nothing comes easy in this sport and we have to be prepared for that.”

The season will open for the Patriots on August 31 as they travel south on I-35 to Waco, Texas and the Baylor Bear Twilite Invite.
