Patriots Conclude Regular Season at Texas State

The Dallas Baptist University Patriot Track teams concluded their 2012 regular season this past weekend at the Texas State Bobcat Classic. The Patriots will head to the NCCAA Outdoor National Track and Field Championships this weekend hosted by Judson University in Joliet, Illinois.

The Patriots had five top-10 finishes, two of which were by freshman Kelsey Bruce. Bruce was 3rd overall in the Women’s 5000 Meter Run in a personal best time of 18:01.33 and 9th overall in the Women’s 1500 Meter Run in a time of 4:48.90. Bruce’s 1500 meter time was also a personal best by .04 of a second. Ashley Spivey and Sarah Rayas also set personal best times in the Women’s 800 Meter Run with their times of 2:24.59 and 2:28.76 respectively. FreshmanGlynnis Meade was the only other Patriot lady in the top-10 with her 10th place finish in the Women’s 5000 Meter Run.

Senior Zach Morgan and freshman Jameson Tomlin were the only Patriot Men in the top-10 on the weekend with their performances in the Men’s 5000 Meter Run. Morgan finished 4th overall while Tomlin was 5th overall. Jacob Phillipsand Joshua Pauley ran personal best times in the 800 Meter Run with their times of 1:57.81 and 1:59.50 respectively. Junior Tommy Parker also set a personal best in the Men’s 400 Meter Run with his time of 50.95. Parker’s time qualified him for the NCCAA Outdoor Championships.

The Patriots have seven men and nine women qualified for the NCCAA Outdoor Championships this weekend. The NCCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will conclude the 2012 Track and Field season for the Patriots.
