Patriots Conclude 2012 at NCCAA Regional

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Men’s Soccer Team ended their inaugural season, Thursday, with a loss at the NCCAA Central Region Tournament in Oklahoma City. The Patriots conclude 2012 at 4-13-1, dropping a 2-0 decision to McMurry University.

The War Hawks opened the scoring just passed the 10 minute mark, as Cody Gentry knocked in a pass from Jordan Miller. 73 minutes of scoreless soccer followed before an insurance goal was tallied by Ryan Prince in the 84th minute, putting McMurry ahead by the eventual final. Jordan Miller once again added the assist.

DBU took 13 total shots in the contest, four of which were on goal. McMurry shot a high percentage, with 11 of their 16 shots on goal. David Balyeat, who was named All-Heartland Conference last week, led the DBU club with four attempts, two of which were on goal.

Chuck Schober (4-11-1) worked in goal for the Patriots, earning eight saves to go along with the two goals allowed. Neil O’Sullivan had four saves for McMurry to move to 8-9-0.

The 8-11-0 McMurry club advances in the NCCAA Regional, taking on top-seed and host Mid-America Christian University, Friday.
