Patriots Complete Three Game Sweep with 13-6 Win

The Patriots completed the three game sweep of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday at Patriot Field with a convicing 13-6 victory over the Islanders.  Senior Ryan Behmanesh had a big day at the plate as he manage to go 3-5 with three RBI’s.

The Patriots got off to a hot start in the bottom of the first inning as red-hot Junior, Boomer Collins, drove in Senior Joel Hutter and Sophomore RJ Talamantes with a base knock, giving the Patriots an early 2-1 lead.  The Patriots striked again in the bottom of the second inning as they capatized on a Landon Anderson base hit that drove in two Patriot base runners with another to follow after multiple erros by the Islanders, giving the Patriots a convincing 5-1 lead.

The Patrios continued to shine at the plate throughout the middle of the ball game and rallied once again in the bottom of the sixth as Behmanesh tacked on another base knock, stretching the Patriot lead 10-4.  The Islanders showed a minimal breath of life in the top of the seventh as Jonathan Gonzales sent an Andrew Elkins fastball over the right field wall, decreasing the Patriot lead 10-6.

The Patriots put the seal on the Islanders in the bottom of the eigth as Colllins and Freshman Ronne Mitchell recorded hits and runs for the Patriots, yielding the final score, 12-6.

With this victory, the Patriots improve to 6-5 on the season.  The Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday, March 6, as they travel to Austin, Texas, to take on the Texas Longhorns.
