Patriot Bass Team Finishes Fifth at ULM Invite on Ouachita River

The Patriot Bass Fishing Team traveled to Monroe, Louisiana, last weekend to fish in the University of Louisiana-Monore Invite on the Ouachita River.  The Patriots took fifth place out of 18 teams and fell just 5.41 pounds short of the first place team.

After catching their limit at 8:30 a.m. and bagging roughly nine pounds on day one, Freshmen Jacob Sepeda and Trent Newman knew they had to bring in a nice sack of fish on day two.  After catching their limit with just one hour until weigh in on day two, Sepeda and Newman weighed in a nice bag of fish in route to their two day total of 17.39 pounds and a fifth place finish.

“I can’t tell you how proud I am of our guys for sticking to our game plan and hanging in there until the end,” shared Speical Advisor and Bass Team Coach Scott Darragh.  “I am thrilled that our guys are beginning to grow as tournament anglers on each new body of water that we fish and I can’t wait for what is to come in the future.”

Also representing the Patriots, and fishing solo, was Junior Trey Bledsoe who managed to catch several fish but just not as many keepers as he would desire.

The Patriot Bass Team will be back in action on May 11-12 at the Carhartt College B.A.S.S. Super Regional Championship on Fort Gipson Lake in Wagoner, Oklahoma.
