The Patriot Bass Fishing Team traveled to Eufaula, Oklahoma, this past weekend to compete in the third FLW National Guard Regional Qualifying Tournament on Lake Eufaula.  The Patriots fared only one keeper-fish in their five hour period on Eufaula, good enough for a 26th place finish out of the 40-team field.

Needing to place in the top-five to advance to the Regional Championship next fall, the Patriot Bass Fishing Team would most likely need to catch a limit of fish on this ever-so-challenging, muddied-water, bass fishing lake.  Freshman Jacob Sepeda and Freshman Trent Newman broke off two fish a piece at the boat and only managed to net one keeper-fish for the tournament, weighing in at two pounds, ten ounces.

“It was a really tough day out there.  Our strategy fell through in the first two hours on the lake,” stated Sepeda.  “We managed to find some clearer water late in the day, but then broke off a few fish at the boat.”

The Patriot Bass Fishing Team will have one more opportunity to qualify for the 2012 FLW National Guard Regional Championship on Toledo Bend on Saturday, June 2.

The Patriots are back in action on April 13, as they compete in the 2012 University of Louisiana at Monroe Invitational on the Ouachita River.
