Patriot Basketball Defeats UTPB Falcons, 89-62

Outstanding shooting from the Dallas Baptist Patriots helped them improve to 10-15 overall and 6-7 in conference play with a dominating win, 89-62, on Thursday night over the Falcons from the University of Texas at the Permian Basin (10-14, 5-9) in The Burg Center in Dallas, TX.

rp_primary_Homecoming vs WBU-187After a game opening 4-3 lead by the Falcons, DBU would gain the lead to never relinquish it only 1:46 into the game.  The Patriots finished the first half with a 12 points lead, 40-28, shooting 55.7 percent from the field.  The second half saw more of the Patriots offense as they were able to connect on 10-of-11 from behind the arc to outscore UTPB 49-34 in the half and finish off the Falcons with a final score of 89-62.

Shooting was key for the Patriots in the win as they attempted 82 total shots compared to the Falcons 69 attempts.  The Patriots connected on 59.3 percent of their shots from the field and an impressive 69.6 percent from three for the game.

The Patriot offense was led by Nick Fox and Charles Allen.  Fox finshed the game with a game high 23 points, shooting 10-for-15 from the field and 3-for-4 from behind the arc.  He added seven total rebounds in the win.  Allen connected on an impressive 8-for-11 from the field and 4-for-5 from three, while grabbing six rebounds, five of those coming from the defensive side of the ball.
