Panthers Vanquish Nimitz Vikings 47-7

Another week of Duncanville Panther varsity football, another week of 40+ points on the board for the Panthers and another victory as Duncanville remains undefeated on the season downing the Irving Nimitz Vikings 47-7.

The Panthers remain atop the 7-6A standings, tied with DeSoto at 6-0, while South Grand Prairie is in third at 4-2 and a logjam behind that with Cedar Hill, Grand Prairie and Irving all at 2-4.

Duncanville found the end zone three times on offense in the first quarter on a Keilon Elder 1-yard run, a Trazon Connley 22-yard run, and an Elder 11-yard run. The Panthers also scored a safety when the ball was snapped out of the end zone by the Viking offense.

The Panthers scored three more times in the second quarter, scoring on a JaQuinden Jackson 42-yard touchdown reception from Connley, a Bryce Walker 4-yard pass from Connley, and a Karien Howard 6-yard run.

Josh Delgado was good on all of the point after attempts, as well as a 39-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Irving Nimitz got on the board with a little over two minutes remaining on the game on a Jaylin Oliver fumble return when Duncanville’s Armone Williams was caught in the Panther backfield and lost control of the ball.

Duncanville had a fairly balanced game, with 163 yards in the air and 199 yards on the ground for a total of 362 yards. The Panther defense stepped up again, holding Irving Nimitz to only 121 total yards with 24 yards in the air and 97 yards rushing.

The Panthers also got their penalties under control, only receiving four penalties for 20 total yards in the game.

Connley was 10-13 for 163 yards passing and two touchdowns, and he was also the leading rusher for Duncanville with 4 carries for 86-yards and a touchdown. Howard was the leading receiver with 4 catches for 113 yards and a touchdown.

Adam Ponce was 3-7 passing for Irving Nimitz, for 24 yards and one interception. Derrick Hamilton was the Viking leading rusher with 15 carries for 49-yards, and Willie Lawson was the sole receiver recording a catch bringing in 3 catches for 24 yards.

Next up for the Panthers is a home game against South Grand Prairie on Friday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Panther Stadium on the DHS campus. The following Friday will be at DeSoto at 7:30 p.m. and should decide the district championship.
