Duncanville kept the game close as they faced the Euless Trinty Trojans in the area playoffs, before coming from behind in the fourth quarter to tie the game and force overtime play. In the second overtime, the Panthers finally outlasted the Trojans and took home the 97-86 victory to advance to the regional quarterfinals against Killeen Ellison.
The Panthers clawed from behind to take the lead, only with Trinity to capitalize on two free throws with :26 seconds left on the clock to tie the game 64-64.
Trinity took the lead in the first overtime, but Duncanville matched the Trojans and a second overtime was forced with the game tied 71-71 with a Miles McDougal shot from the paint.
The Panthers outscored the Trojans 16-15 in the final overtime to take the win and advance.
McDougal led the Panthers with 27 points, followed by Tyler Watkins with 19, Dexter Johnson with 12, and Erik Talton with 11 points to round out double-digit scorers.
Trinity was led by Jhivvan Jackson’s 36 points, Josh Kashila and his 24 points, and Tyze Richardsons’s 11 points.
Duncanville will take on Killeen Ellison on Tuesday night, with the time and place still to be determined. Ellison downed Plano West on Friday night.
