Panthers Pound Plano East 42-24

The Duncanville Panthers firmly maintained their grasp and their position as one of the top area 6A teams with a 42-24 drumming of Plano East on Friday night.

Duncanville scored on all five of their first half possessions, taking a 35-7 lead at the half.

Senior Keilon Elder set the tone for the night, on the second Duncanville offensive play for the season, and Elder’s first touch of the ball, Elder ran for 49-yards for his first of 5 touchdowns for the game. Elder finished with 253 rushing yards for the game.

Duncanville rolled up 442 total yards on offense, while the Duncanville defense allowed 294 yards to Plano East. Duncanville averaged 10.6 yards per pass, and 8.1 yards per rush.

Duncanville totaled 389 rushing yards on 48 attempts, and 53 yards on 5-11 passing. Trazon Connley led Duncanville passers with 46 yards on 4-7 passing, while JaQuinden Jackson was good for 7 yards on 4 attempts. Connely was tagged with one interception for the game. Gyasi Smith led Duncanville receivers with 2 catches for 30 yards.

Duncanville lost 2 fumbles, the first on a kickoff return by James Johnson, and the second by Connley. Both fumbles came in the fourth quarter with Duncanville holding a commanding 42-17 lead. Duncanville was hit for 98 yards on 11 penalties for the contest.

Plano East scored in the second quarter to close the gap 21-7, but find the end zone again until the fourth quarter. A field goal in the third and two late scores in the fourth, gave the final 42-24 score.

Along with Elder’s 49-yard touchdown, he scored on runs of 3-yards, 1-yard, 11-yards, and 6-yards. The other Duncanville scores came on a Connley 8-yard run.

For Plano East, Brandon Mallory went 7-14 for 137 yards passing and scored on a 61-yard pass to Josh Allison and a 12-yard pass to Braylon Henderson.

Plano East also had 137 rushing yards, Josh Meadors leading with 88 yards on 10 carries.

Josh Allison had 2 catches for 75 yards to lead Plano East receivers.

Duncanville’s next game is a home game against Arlington Sam Houston, next Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Panther Stadium on the Duncanville High School campus.

Duncanville will wrap up non-district action with a home game against Skyline on Sept. 15, before taking on Irving High in a home game on Sept. 28 for the first game in district 7-6A play.
