The Panthers took care of business on Tuesday night to go into the playoffs as district 7-6A district champions by downing the Grand Prairie Gophers 69-53.

The Panthers had control the entire game, leading 57-33 after three-quarters of play. Grand Prairie tried to mount a comeback in the final period, outscoring Duncanville 20-12, but it was a case of too little, too late.

Douglass Merida with 14 points and Cameron Massey with 12 points were the leading scorers for Duncanville. While Dodie Wilson with 27 points and Caleb Clark with 10 points led the way for the Gophers.

While Duncanville took the district championship, South Grand Prairie finished second with DeSoto finishing third after forfeiting their final two games and Cedar Hill is in fourth. All four teams will advance to the UIL playoffs.
