Panthers Hold On to Defeat Gophers

The Panthers were able to keep the game close in the first quarter, ending the period tied 9-9. But, in the second quarter the Panthers opened up the offense in a 20 point run that gave Duncanville a 29-16 lead at the half.

The Gophers picked up the scoring by scoring 21 points in the third, while Duncanville scored 15 in the quarter for a 44-37 lead. In the fourth the Gophers mounted a comeback and closed the gap, but Duncanville held on for a 57-55 win.

The leading scorer for the Panthers was Omar Sherman with 13 points. The only other player in double digits for Duncanville was Davontae Bailey with 10 points.

The win gives the Panthers a 5-3 record in district, with a season record of 13-13, as the Panthers travel on Friday to take on Midlothian at 7:30PM.
