Panthers Defeat Waco Midway 55-53 to Claim Bi-District Title

Duncanville traveled to West to take on the Waco Midway Panthers from UIL district 8-6A. Midway finished third in their district, at 11-3, behind Killeen Ellison and Killeen Shoemaker.

Duncanville started off slowly, only scoring 6 points in the first period, while Midway pumped in 18 points to take a 12-point lead.

Duncanville turned things around in the second period to close the gap to 20-25, trailing Waco at the half.

Duncanville continued to claw their way back, coming just one point closer at 41-45 after the third quarter.

Duncanville was finally able to clamp down on defense, holding Midway to only 8 points in the final quarter, while Duncanville scored 14 points to take the 55-53 victory.

Duncanville will next face the Euless Trinity Trojans in the area playoffs on Friday night, after Trinity shocked Denton Guyer 92-91. Trinity finished third in district 5-6A behind Hebron and Flower Mound.

The Panthers and Trojans will meet on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Arlington High School.
