Duncanville trailed the entire game, before mounting a fourth period come back to take a 65-61 victory to hold on to second place in district 7-6A. The loss for SGP dropped them into the fourth spot, and the final playoff spot with three games remainig in regular season action.
The Warriors led 17-13 after the first, and held a 22-18 lead at the half. Duncanville inched closer in the third, closing the gap to 36-34, before taking the lead and pulling away for the 4-point victory.
Miles McDougal led Duncanville, and all scorers, with 21 points, followed by Dexter Johnson’s 15 points and Tyler Watkins with 13 points.
SGP was led by Bryce Cook’s 20 points and Maluw Deng with 10 points.
Duncanville moves to 9-2 in district action, and will travel to DeSoto (8-3) tonight for a 7:30 p.m. game. A home game against Irving MacArthur (4-7)on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. away game next Tuesday at Grand Prairie (0-11) will round out district action.
The Panthers are listed at #13 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches weekly poll. Cedar Hill is listed at #3 in that same poll and is the only other 7-6A team in the top 25.
