Panthers Bounce Back With 69-63 Victory Over Grand Prairie

The Panthers got back in the win column Tuesday night with a 69-63 decision over the 10-13 Grand Prairie Gophers. The Gophers were 2-3 in district 8-6A, but the loss pushes them to 2-4 and moves Duncanville to 2-3 in district with an overall 13-11 record.

The Panthers trailed 11-16 after one quarter but fought back to a one-point deficit, 29-30 at the half.

In the third quarter the Panthers pulled away, outscoring the Gophers 22-8 to take a 51-28 lead into the final period. But, the Gophers scrambled back to close the gap. Duncanville was able to hold off the charge and walked away with the 69-63 win.

Leading scorer for the game was Duncanville’s Tyler Watkins with 21 points. Also scoring double-digits for the Panthers was Sedrick Madison with 15, Jalen Harris with 14, and Miles McDougal with 13 points.

Cailen Bond with 18 points led Grand. Priaire Ashawntee Harris had 16 points, and Myron Myers scored 12 points to round out double-digit scorers.

Next up for Duncanville is a home game against DeSoto on Friday at 7:30 p.m., then the Panthers host Mansfield next Tuesday.
