The Panthers downed both Dallas Conrad and Cedar Park Vista Ridge to advance in the Dallas ISD Holiday Invitational.
In their first game Duncanville defeated the Conrad Chargers 72-32 to go on to face Vista Ridge in the championship bracket. With eleven Panthers scoring, the Duncanville bench helped keep the Panthers on a roll. Clarence Taylor led the Panthers, and all scorers, with 13 points. Stan Fair led the Chargers with 10 points in the losing effort.
The biggest difference maker was the Panther defense, holding the Chargers to just 2 points in the first quarter and only 7 points in the third quarter. In the second and fourth quarter Conrad barely got into double-digits with 11 and 12 points respectively.
Duncanville’s second game was a little closer, as they downed the Vista Ridge Rangers 76-62. Vista Ridge actually led 16-11 after the first quarter, but Duncanville came on strong in the final three periods to take the victory.
Miles McDougal led the Panthers with 23 points in the game. Dexter Johnson (18 points), Jakobi Pearson (12 points), and Tyler Watkins (11 points) rounded out double-digit scorers.
Duncanville will next face Dallas Skyine at noon on Thursday. Skyline comes into the game ranked as the #2 6A team in Texas by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, while Duncanville is ranked #13 in that same poll.
