Pantherettes to Face Southlake Carroll in Bi-District

With a 49-34 loss to Colleyville Heritage, the Southlake Carroll Lady Dragons now face the Duncanville Pantherettes in bi-district action on Tues., Feb 15, at 6:30 p.m. at Arlington High School.

The Lady Dragons finished fourth in district 7-6A with a 13-12 overall record and 7-4 district record. Southlake finished their season with three losses and only a +95 point differential.

The Duncanville Pantherettes, on the other hand, are currently number one in the state and ranked in the top two in the national rankings and riding a 32-game undefeated streak with a point differential of +1178 points.

Junior guard Priscilla Smeenge and junior post Anna Hurlburt lead the Lady Dragon offense. Smeenge has scored 417 points on the season, with Hurlburt accounting for 374 points.

The powerhouse Pantherette offense is led by senior post Ciera Johnson with 489 points and sophomore guard Zarielle Green. ESPN ranks Green as the #14 nationally ranked player for the class of 2018. Johnson is ranked as the #15 overall player and the #2 post for 2016 in that same poll. Johnson has committed to the University of Louisville, but was courted by Duke, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Texas, South Carolina and Notre Dame.

The big difference for the Pantherettes is that three other players have over 200 points on the season and three more with more than 100 points.
