Pantherettes to Celebrate State Championship Bid With Send-off

The public is invited to join the Duncanville ISD family as they celebrate the Pantherettes basketball team’s undefeated season and give them a proper send-off as they travel to San Antonio for the Texas State Championship Thursday, March 3.

Cheerleaders, students, parents and fans will wish the team well as they board the bus and travel to the state semifinals ranked #1 in the state and #2 in the nation. The send-off festivities begin at 7:45 a.m. in front of Duncanville High School’s Sandra Meadows Arena.

The Pantherettes overcame an impressive shooting streak by Plano West Saturday, February 27 that had the teams tied at 35 at halftime. The Pantherettes came out strong in the second half and took the lead to capture the UIL 6A Region 1 title.

On Friday, March 4, the Pantherettes take on Cibolo Steele (34-3) at 8:30 p.m. at the Alamodome in San Antonio in the state semi-final.  The other semifinal game features Region 2 Dekaney (36-1) and Region 3 North Shore (36-1). The state championship game will be played at 8:30 p.m.Saturday night.

The Duncanville Pantherettes won the State Championship consecutive years in 2012 and 2013 and finished as state runner-up in 2014.
