With wins over Saginaw, Killeen Ellison, Plano East and Sierra Canyon, the Pantherettes needed one more victory in order to reclaim the title that Fayetteville took back to Arkansas last year; the Sandra Meadows Classic championship.

The Lady Wolverines came into the Sandra Meadows Classic with a 9-1 record and downed Waxahachie, Bishop Lynch, Jersey Village and Frisco Lone Star before facing Duncanville in the finals.

The first quarter saw Harvard-Westlake keep it close as the Pantherettes held a slim 16-11 lead and the Lady Wolverines were showing a hustle that Duncanville had not faced all tournament. However, the Duncanville decided to show the out-of-state visitors what the vaunted Pantherette defense was all about. Duncanville allowed the Lady Wolverines only two points in the second quarter to give the Pantherettes a 28-13 lead at the half. Duncanville extended the lad to 41-23 lead in the third before slowing the game down in the fourth and limiting touches for the visiting Californians to take the 45-30 victory.

Leading the way for Duncanville was Zay Green with 18 points, followed by Hanna Gusters with 12 points. Green took MVP honors for the tournament and Gusters was recognized as the top defensive player. All tournament honors also went to Krislyn Marsh and Aniha Thomas.

Jayda Rufus-Milner led the Lady Wolverines with 7 points, and Ashlee Wong and Melanie Hirsch had 6 points each in the losing effort. Jayda Rufus-Milner took offensive player honors for the tourney, while Jayla Rufus-Milner, Kiki Iriafen and Ashlee Wong were all tournament honorees.

The Pantherettes get back into district 7-6A action on Tuesday with a road game against Cedar Hill (15-6) and a Friday game in Irving against the Nimitz Lady Vikings (1-7).
