The Pantherettes took on the Irving High School Lady Tigers on Friday night in their last action before the winter break, and the Sandra Meadows Classic, and came back to town with the 92-24 victory.
Duncanville went on a 29-0 run to start the game, before Nia Watson scored a free throw for Irving with less than a minute left in the first quarter. Duncanville would close out the period with a 31-3 lead.
In the second quarter, the Pantherettes outscored the Lady Tigers 17-9 off the shooting of Hannah Gusters and Starr Jacobs to take a 48-12 lead into the half.
The third and fourth quarter saw Duncanville alternate between a 1-2-2 zone and man-to-man half-court defense to slow the game down, but Duncanville continued to extend their lead to 71-17 at the end of the third, and then the final 92-24 score.
The leading scorer was Zarielle Green with 29 points. Green also had 2 steals and 2 blocks. Lauren Bowie led on the defensive side of the ball with 5 rebounds, 4 steals, and three blocks to go along with her 15 points.
The leading scorer for Irving was Bethanie Abram with 10 points.
Next up for the Pantherettes is the Sandra Meadows Classic on December 28, 29 & 30. The Pantherettes will take on Richardson on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 9 a.m. in the Sandra Meadows Arena.
