After defeating the Lady Gophers 91-1 earlier this season, the outcome of this game was a foregone conclusion. It was just a matter of how large the margin of victory would be. The Pantherettes ran away in the first quarter, outscoring the Lady Gophers 34-1 and looking like the game might be a repeat of game one. However, Grand Prairie scored 6 points in the second quarter before going scoreless the remainder of the game for a final score of 85-7.
Duncanville was led by Starr Jacobs with 16 points, followed by Aakilah Caldwell and Hannah Gusters with 14 points each, and Nina Alvarez with 10 points to round out double digit scorers. Ten Pantherettes got into the socring action against the Lady Gophers.
Duncanville moves their season record to 27-2, with a district 7-6A record of 9-0.
Next up for the Pantherettes is a home game on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. against the Lady Tigers of Irving High. Duncanville defeated Irving earlier this season 92-24. Next Friday the Pantherettes will travel to Cedar Hill to take on the Lady Longhorns at 6 p.m. on the Cedar Hill High School campus. Duncanville downed Cedar Hill 64-45 in a home game earlier this season.
